GAY PRIDE FOR THE CENTRAL COAST OF CALIFORNIAThe 2012 Pride calendar is quickly taking shape. The festivities this year will include the fantastic Drag Divas Live show at SLO Brewing Co. in downtown San Luis Obispo followed by the annual pride dance on Friday night. On Saturday evening comic, actor and author, Leslie Jordan (Will & Grace, Sordid Lives, The Help), will perform live at the Spanos Theatre on Cal Poly campus. The party continues on Saturday after the show at Pappy McGregor's. And Sunday marks our 16th annual public celebration of our community with Pride in the Mission Plaza. There are two great ways to ensure you don't miss any breaking news about this year's Pride lineup. Become a fan of the GALA Facebook page, or subscribe to receive updates by email. A CALL FOR ARTISTSThe Pride Art Show runs in the GALA Center located at 1060 Palm in the weeks leading up to pride. The event coordinator, Paul LaRiviere, is looking for artists to showcase. Artists interested in showing their work please call Lorelei at the GALA Center (805) 541-4252 or e-mail Paul LaRiviere, art curator at kayakbear@charter.net. VOLUNTEERS WANTEDSLO Pride is coordinated and produced entirely by volunteers. It is thanks only to the time, money, products and services donated by dedicated community members that we can enjoy big-time events in our small town. The Pride Committee meets the first Monday of each month at 7 PM at the GALA Center; meetings are open to the public and interested volunteers are very welcome. If you would like to contribute in any way, email our volunteer coordinator. Students can earn free admission to many of our pride week events by volunteering their time. If you would like to help with pride activities and save on the celebration, please complete our volunteer application or email our volunteer coordinator. |
